TOMATO (Taste of Mathematical Observation) is an initiative by the Department of Mathematics aimed at cultivating academic excellence and critical thinking. This magazine inspires students to enhance their understanding through reading, writing, and analysis. We invite students to submit original articles or reference pieces, sharing knowledge and inspiring peers. The journey of TOMATO began in July 2024 with our first quarterly issue. This inaugural edition (Year-1, Issue-1) was brought to life by the collective efforts of our founding student team—Naman Verma, Rakesh Biswas, Arun Pandey, Sheetal Brijwasi, Hina Rawat, and Chandrika Rawat—setting the standard for the vibrant mathematical observations that follow today.
In October 2024, the department released the second issue (Year-1, Issue-2) of TOMATO. This edition was driven by the collaborative efforts of Hina Rawat, Tanuja Mehta, Arun Pandey, Naman Verma, Nivedita Sijwali, and Rakesh Biswas, further establishing the magazine as a cornerstone of student activity.

Unlike previous issues where students served as team members, this edition formally designates the student leadership as Student Editors, acknowledging their increased responsibility in the editorial process.
The July – December 2025 edition (Year-2, Issue-2) marks a mature phase for TOMATO. Under the guidance of Student Editors Bhupesh Singh Nitwal, Tanuja Mehta, and Vimal Kumar.

Submission Guidelines for TOMATO
The Department of Mathematics at M.B. Govt. P.G. College, Haldwani, warmly invites both faculty members and enthusiastic students to submit their original articles for consideration in the forthcoming January – June 2026 edition of its esteemed official magazine, TOMATO. Submissions may cover a wide array of diverse and fascinating topics including the rich history of number systems, significant Indian contributions to the field of mathematics, recent groundbreaking advancements in various fields of study, as well as insightful biographies of notable mathematicians who have shaped our understanding of the subject. Additionally, the magazine is eager to welcome engaging book reviews, creative mathematical poetry, thought-provoking puzzles, and "Back to Basics" content which is specifically designed to captivate and engage school students in a creative and intellectually stimulating manner. All articles must be meticulously crafted to be under 800 words in length, formatted in a standard 12-point font—Times New Roman for English submissions or Kruti Dev for Hindi entries—and submitted in both Word and PDF formats for ease of access and review. Authors are required to include clear and informative headings, proper citations accompanied by a comprehensive bibliography, and a brief yet engaging 2–3 sentence biography that highlights their unique experience and contributions to the field. Completed submissions should be thoughtfully emailed to tomatomagzine@gmail.com with the precise subject line "Article Submission: Your Name" by the critical May 2026 deadline (05:00 PM IST).
